Essential Landscape Maintenance Tips for the Central Valley
The Central Valley's seasonal heat and rain affect irrigation, planting, hardscape, and drainage differently. Use product instructions, plant needs, current local watering rules, and the actual site conditions rather than a universal calendar.
Spring (March to May)
Review irrigation schedules as temperatures change, inspect paver joints and drainage inlets, and refresh mulch where appropriate for the plants and fire-safety conditions. Fertilizer needs depend on the species and soil.
Summer (June to August)

Use a cleaning method compatible with the finish and sealer. Inspection and resealing intervals vary with the product, traffic, weather, and installer or manufacturer guidance; have material cracks or movement assessed before choosing a repair.

Remove debris and pet waste, clean affected areas, brush traffic zones when needed, and follow the turf and infill manufacturers' care instructions. Frequency depends on use, pets, shade, dust, drainage, and product warranty requirements.
